Truth Telling Stolen Generation
KACHS are honoured to have Aunty Pam and Uncle Bobby with us to share their truth-telling stories from both female and male cultural lenses. This session will provide a profound understanding of the history of colonization, the policies that have shaped the lives of Aboriginal families, and the lasting legacies of these experiences.
Aunty Pam will recount her journey, which began when she was placed in the welfare system with a non-Aboriginal family and subsequently moved through various domesticated organizations. Uncle Bobby will share his own powerful story, detailing his placement under the Aborigine Act to Yarra Bay LaPa and then to Kinchela Aboriginal Boys Home in Kempsey. They will both yarn about how the Australian government has historically used various means to oppress Aboriginal people.
This event promises to be a safe space where we can all learn, ask questions, and gain insights into the stories, strength, and resilience of Aunty Pam and Uncle Bobby. Their experiences are invaluable, and this is a unique opportunity to deepen our understanding and empathy.
